English springer spaniel

English springer spaniel, breed of sporting dog, the original hunting spaniel, popular with Renaissance hunters. Springer spaniels stand, on the average, 18 to 21 in (46 to 53 cm) at the shoulder and weigh 37 to 55 lb (17 to 25 kg). They have long, thick, protective coats.
