Erysipelas



Erysipelas, contagious skin infection caused by streptococci bacteria, which generally enter through a small wound. The area affected becomes red and slightly swollen; the patient often has a fever and feels tired. If not treated, erysipelas can spread to deeper tissues, causing serious complications. Treated with antibiotics.
