Sir Arthur John Evans
Evans, Sir Arthur John (1851–1941), English archeologist famous for his discovery of the Minoan civilization from excavations at Knossos in Crete. He was curator of the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford (1884–1908) and professor of prehistoric archeology at Oxford from 1909.
