Far East



Far East, term often used for eastern Asia, comprising China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and eastern Siberia in the Russian Federation. Sometimes the term extends to include the nations of Southeast Asia: Brunei, Myunmar (Burma), Indonesia, Cambodia (Kampuchea), Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. The term Far East was originated by the Europeans to describe an area of Asia far to the east of them.
