Flowering tobacco



Flowering tobacco, any of several species of plants (genus Nicotiana) in the nightshade family that grow wild or are cultivated for their sweet-smelling flowers. Flowering tobacco plants are native to the South American tropics. They have hairy, sticky leaves and tube-shaped red, white, yellow, or purple flowers. One species, N. tabacum, is the source of tobacco.
