Fort Knox
Fort Knox, U.S. military reservation in Hardin County, north central Kentucky. Established in 1917 as a training camp, it was named for Major General Henry Knox, first secretary of war. It is now the site of the U.S. Army Armor Center, which includes the U.S. Gold Bullion Depository, and covers 110,000 acres (44,500 hectares).
