Fort McHenry
Fort McHenry, fort in Baltimore Harbor, Md. During the War of 1812, it withstood overnight bombardment by a British fleet, inspiring Francis Scott Key, a spectator, to write the words to The Star-Spangled Banner, which became the U.S. national anthem.
