Fraction

Fraction, in mathematics, expression representing the ratio of 2 numbers. In the fraction 3/4, 4, the number after or below the bar (the denominator) may be thought of as the total number of equal parts into which the unit has been divided, and 3, the number before or above the bar (the numerator) how many parts are being considered. In decimal fractions, the division of the numerator by the denominator is computed: 3/4=0.75.
