Sir James George Frazer
Frazer, Sir James George (1854–1941), British social anthropologist. In The Golden Bough: A Study in Magic and Religion (1890; enlarged 1907–15) he proposed a parallel evolution of thought in all peoples, from magic through religion to science, each mode of thought with its distinct notion of cause and effect.
