Free-piston engine



Free-piston engine, engine that produces hot gas, which is used to run turbines. It was invented in the 1920s by the Spanish engineer, Pateras Pescara. Able to burn almost any liquid fuel, this engine has facing pairs of pistons that move back and forth from the fuel ignition and resulting air compression.
