Gelatin
Gelatin, colorless protein substance obtained from heating collagen, which is extracted from the skin, connective tissue, and bones of cattle and hogs, in boiling water or acid. Gelatin is used as an ingredient in jellies and baked goods, to form capsules around pills, and to coat photographic film.
