Geophysics

Geophysics, physics of the planet earth, including studies of the lithosphere (seismology, geomagnetism, gravitation, radioactivity, electric properties, and heat flow) and studies of the atmosphere and hydrosphere. Geophysical techniques are used extensively in the search for mineral deposits, an area known as exploration geophysics, or geophysical prospecting.
