Alberto Giacometti
Giacometti, Alberto (1901–66), Swiss-born sculptor and painter who lived in Paris. He is best known for his elongated and skeletal human figures, which convey a sense of extreme spiritual isolation—Man Pointing and Man Walking (1947). His early work was influenced by primitive art and surrealism (The Palace at 4 A.M., 1932).
