Simon Girty

Girty, Simon (1741–1818), American frontiersman called the Great Renegade. He was captured by the Seneca Indians at age 15. During the Revolutionary War, he deserted the Colonists to serve the British as a scout and interpreter and led numerous raiding parties against the colonies.
