Jane Goodall



Goodall, Jane (1934– ), English zoologist who gained recognition through her years of study and work with chimpanzees. She learned that chimpanzees' use of tools is second only to humans'. She also discovered that they eat pigs, small monkeys, and other medium-sized game, and that groups may actually war on each other. Her books include My Friends, the Wild Chimpanzees (1967), In the Shadow of Man (1971), The Innocent Killers (1971), and The Chimpanzees of Gombe (1986).
