Grenoble



Grenoble (pop. 159,900), city in eastern France, located in a valley of the French Alps. A winter sports center, Grenoble hosted the 1968 Winter Olympics. The city is also a center for manufacturing and scientific research and is home to the University of Grenoble, founded in 1339. Grenoble was established by the Gauls c.400 B.C.
