Gulf of Mexico

Gulf of Mexico, arm of the Atlantic Ocean bounded by the southeastern United States, Mexico, and Cuba. It is linked to the Atlantic by the Strait of Florida and to the Caribbean by the Strait of Yucatan. Extensive petroleum deposits are worked offshore.
