Albrecht von Haller
Haller, Albrecht von (1708–77), Swiss biologist. Best known for his work on human anatomy and physiology, he is credited with being the founder of experimental anatomy. In physiology he investigated respiration, the blood circulation, the nervous system, and the irritability and sensibility of different types of body tissues.
