Harry Frederick Harlow
Harlow, Harry Frederick (1905–81), U.S. psychologist who studied the effects in monkeys of deprivation of maternal love and other social contact. Harlow's conclusions were that social contact in childhood is necessary for adult sociability and that maternal attention in infancy is necessary for the development of adult maternal instincts.
