Hatshepsut



Hatshepsut (d. 1481 B.C.), queen of Egypt, 18th dynasty. She ruled with her husband and half-brother Thutmose II (r. 1512–1504 B.C.), becoming regent to his son and then assuming the powers and titles of pharaoh. She presided over a period of prosperity, and built the great temple of Der el-Bahri near Thebes.
