William Dudley Haywood
Haywood, William Dudley (1869–1928), U.S. labor leader and principal organizer of the Industrial Workers of the World (1905). He was expelled from the Socialist party due to his excessive militancy. In World War I he was convicted of sedition but escaped to Russia in 1921.
