Victor Herbert



Herbert, Victor (1859–1924), Irish-born U.S. operetta composer and conductor. The conductor of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (1878–1904), he was famous for Babes in Toyland (1903), Naughty Marietta (1910), and Eileen (1917). He also wrote two grand operas and a cello concerto.
