Garret Augustus Hobart
Hobart, Garret Augustus (1844–99), U.S. vice president (1897–79) in the McKinley administration. He was speaker of the New Jersey State Assembly (1873–74) and president of the state senate (1880–82). Upon his death, Theodore Roosevelt was appointed to complete his term.
