Laura Zametkin Hobson
Hobson, Laura Zametkin (1900–86), U.S. author born in New York City, the setting for most of her novels. Her most famous work, Gentleman's Agreement (1947), deals with prejudice and religious intolerance. In The Tenth Month (1971) and Consenting Adults (1975), Hobson addressed the controversial issues of unwed motherhood and homosexuality, respectively. Her other works include The Celebrity (1951), First Papers (1964), and Over and Above (1979).
