Homo sapiens



Homo sapiens, species of humans approximately 450,000 years old, with the oldest known fossil remains dating back about 375,000 years. Neanderthal man is the most well known example of Homo sapiens and lived in Africa, Asia, and Europe from 100,000 to 35,000 years ago. Modern human beings are classified as a subspecies of Homo sapiens, Homo sapiens sapiens.
