Honiara

Honiara (pop. 35,300), capital of the Solomon Islands, an independent state (and member of the British Commonwealth) in the southwest Pacific Ocean. Honiara is located on the island of Guadalcanal. It was the site of a World War II U.S. military base and earlier of a Japanese military base.
