Book of Hosea

Hosea, Book of, first of the Old Testament Minor Prophets. Its material originated in the prophecies of Hosea, delivered in Israel in the 8th century B.C. It compares God's abiding love for idolatrous Israel to Hosea's love for his prostitute wife, whom he divorced but remarried.
