Edward Mandell House
House, Edward Mandell (1858–1938), U.S. diplomat and adviser to President Woodrow Wilson. During World War I he acted for Wilson in Europe and was responsible for arranging the peace conference and acceptance of Wilson's Fourteen Points. In 1919 his conciliatory approach during the Treaty of Versailles negotiations led to a rift with Wilson.
