Human Development Services, Office of, section of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, established in 1973 to govern various government social and rehabilitation programs. The Office of Human Development Services supports and funds groups with special needs, such as Native Americans, children, the elderly, the developmentally disabled, and low-income families. The agency has 4 main divisions: the Administration on Aging, the Administration for Native Americans, the Administration on Developmental Disabilities, and the Administration for Children, Youth and Families.
