Collis Potter Huntington



Huntington, Collis Potter (1821–1900), U.S. railroad tycoon. He was the chief promoter of the West's first railroad company, the Central Pacific (1861), and he established the Southern Pacific (1884). He left most of his fortune to his nephew, Henry E. Huntington.
