Zora Neale Hurston



Hurston, Zora Neale (1901–60), U.S. author known for her literary interpretations of African-American folklore of the southern United States and the Caribbean. Her novels were Jonah's Gourd Vine (1934) and Their Eyes Were Watching God (1937). Mules and Men (1935) and Tell My Horse (1938) are collections of retold folktales.
