Ibuprofen
Ibuprofen, drug used for the relief of headaches, muscle aches, pain, and for the reduction of fever. Familiar trade names for ibuprofen include Advil, Motrin, and Nuprin. An anti-inflammatory agent and pain reliever, ibuprofen is also used to treat arthritis. Of a group of drugs called propionic acid derivatives developed in the 1960s and early 70s, ibuprofen is today the most widely used. Since 1984, ibuprofen has been available for sale without a prescription.
