llmenite

llmenite, heavy black metallic oxide mineral that is a source of titanium. Formed at high temperatures and containing 36.8% iron and 31.6% titanium, ilmenite is not widely used as iron ore because of difficulties in smelting, or separating the metallic constituents. The chemical formula for ilmenite is FeTiO₃.
