Indian pipe

Indian pipe (Monotropa uniflora), low, flowering plant of the family Ericaceae. Often mistaken for fungus, which actually serves as food for it, the indian pipe grows in moist woods in eastern Asia and North America. Its scaly stem grows 6 to 10 in (15 to 25 cm) tall. The Indian pipe got its name because it resembles a group of clay pipes.
