Indus Valley civilization

Indus Valley civilization, centered around the Indus River in India and Pakistan, the earliest known urban culture of the Indian subcontinent. Superimposed on earlier stone- and bronze-using cultures dating from 4000 B.C., the Indus Valley civilization, with its main cities Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro, lasted from 2500 to 1750 B.C. About 100 of its towns and villages, some with citadels, have been identified.
