Samuel Insull
Insull, Samuel (1859–1938), English-born U.S. financier. Secretary to Thomas Edison in the 1880s, he became head of the Chicago Edison Co. and built a huge conglomerate supplying electricity throughout Illinois and other states. It collapsed in 1932. Later he was tried for fraud and acquitted.
