Jeffersonville

Jeffersonville (pop. 21,220), city in southern Indiana, on the Ohio River across from Louisville, Ky. Built on the site of Fort Steuben, the community was designed by President Thomas Jefferson in 1802. The seat of Clark County, it is a river port and manufacturing center and houses the Southeast Campus of Indiana University.
