Juan Ramón Jiménez



Jiménez, Juan Ramón (1881–1958), Spanish poet. At first influenced by symbolism, in Diary of a Poet and the Sea (1917) he developed a free, direct style of his own poesía desnuda (Spanish “naked poetry”). After the Spanish Civil War he moved to Puerto Rico. He received the Nobel Prize for literature in 1956.
