Hiram Warren Johnson



Johnson, Hiram Warren (1866–1945), U.S. statesman. As a prosecuting attorney in San Francisco he successfully prosecuted corrupt political bosses (1908). He was governor of Cal. (1911–17) and U.S. senator (1917–45). He was a hard-line isolationist, opposing U.S. membership in the League of Nations and any war preparations.
