Book of Jonah

Jonah, Book of, in the Old Testament, 32nd in the Authorized Version, 5th of the Minor Prophets. Unique in its entirely narrative form, it tells of the Hebrew prophet Jonah, who disobeyed God's command to travel to Nineveh to convert the city. Instead Jonah sailed away, and his crew threw him overboard during a storm brought on by his disobedience. Swallowed by a “great fish,” Jonah was cast out of the fish's body three days later.
