Kaleidoscope
Kaleidoscope, optical device that produces colorful patterns and designs. It consists of a tube with mirrors and pieces of colored beads and glass that is held to the eye and rotated to form symmetrical color patterns. Patented in 1817, the kaleidoscope is used by designers to formulate carpet and wallpaper patterns.
