Kampala
Kampala (pop. 458,400), capital and largest city of Uganda, on Lake Victoria in east Africa. When Uganda became self-governing in 1962, Kampala superseded Entebbe as the capital. The city was originally constructed on six adjacent hills. Uganda's agricultural and commercial markets are concentrated in Kampala.
