Kapok



Kapok (Ceiba pentandra), tropical tree; also, the water-repellent fiber of its seeds. Kapok is used as a stuffing for life jackets, mattresses, pillows, and cold-weather clothing, and as insulation against heat and sound. Oil from its seeds is used in the manufacture of soap. Kapok trees are found in India, Indonesia, Africa, and other tropical regions.
