Yasunari Kawabata
Kawabata, Yasunari (1899–1972), Japanese novelist. He is noted for his impressionistic, lyrical style and a preoccupation with loneliness and death. One of his best-known works is Snow Country (1947). He was awarded the 1968 Nobel Prize for literature, the first Japanese to win the prize.
