Anthony McLeod Kennedy
Kennedy, Anthony McLeod (1936– ), associate justice of the United States Supreme Court (1988– ), appointed after Justice Lewis Powell retired. A Stanford University graduate (1958), Kennedy earned a law degree from Harvard University (1961). He practiced law until 1975, when he was appointed to the United States Court of Appeals (Ninth Circuit) by President Gerald Ford. Kennedy taught constitutional law at the McGeorge School of Law (1965–88).
