Kingsnake, nonpoisonous snake (genus Lampropeltis) of the central and southern United States. Kingsnakes grow up to 6 ft (2 m) long and are often brightly colored. They feed on rodents, birds, and snakes, even rattlesnakes, since kingsnakes are immune to venom.
