Kingstown



Kingstown (pop. 19,000), capital of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, in the Caribbean Sea. Situated on the southwest seashore of St. Vincent's island, Kingstown is the country's chief port. The economy is based largely on import/export activities. Kingstown was ruled by England for nearly 200 years (1783–1979), until its integration with the self-governing body of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
