Rudyard Kipling
Kipling, Rudyard (1865–1936), Indian-born English writer. Among his works are short stories about Anglo-Indian life, such as Plain Tales from the Hills (1888); poems, including “Mandalay” and “Gunga Din”; and children's books, including The Jungle Book (1894), Kim (1901). He won the Nobel Prize for literature in 1907.
