Kirtland Air Force Base

Kirtland Air Force Base, nuclear research facility in Albuquerque, N.M., established 1941. It is named after Air Force Col. Roy S. Kirtland. The U.S. Air Force Weapons Laboratory and Special Weapons center are located here.
