Kiwi fruit



Kiwi fruit, or Chinese gooseberry (Actinidia chinensis), fruit originating in China and named for the kiwi bird of New Zealand (where it was first established as a commercial crop). Green-fleshed, with a thin, fuzzy, brown skin, it is similar in size and shape to an egg. It has a pungent flavor and is rich in vitamin C. The fruit is also found in France, the United States, Italy, Spain, and Japan.
